I have had the pleasure of knowing Avril and Clive for about 25 years as they are the parents of my dear friend Mel.

Mel and I worked at Beatties and have stayed friends ever since. I have fond memories of seeing the choir perform and seeing Avril and Mel perform with Knowle Operatic.

Clive would always shrug when Mel and i went off out into “town” - him and Avril laughing at us laughing! Their doors were always open and there was always a good party!

Clive faced his challenges with dignity and bravery and I, for one have nothing but respect for him. My husband and I were honoured to be invited to their diamond wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed sharing anecdotes and memories with family and friends.

Our love goes to Mel, Avril and Ade and hope that the proud moments - like recieving an MBE - stay with you and keep him in your hearts forever
